WeRide, a global leader in autonomous driving technology, has just introduced its latest innovation—the GXR, a groundbreaking Robotaxi that sets a new standard for spaciousness and passenger comfort. This new model, hailed as the world’s largest production Robotaxi, is the result of years of public operation and extensive testing in autonomous driving.
With over 1,800 days of operational experience in the Robotaxi sector, WeRide has packed the GXR with its self-developed L4-level autonomous driving hardware and software. It also features the new Sensor Suite 5.6 and the high-performance HPC 2.0 computing platform, enabling the vehicle to navigate complex traffic, including peak hours, mixed environments, and nighttime high-speed driving.
The GXR is equipped with an advanced redundancy system, ensuring the highest level of safety for passengers. Its design includes fail-safe architecture in crucial components such as the steering-by-wire chassis, braking systems, and computing units, reducing the risk of single-point failures.
Cutting-Edge Sensors for Seamless Autonomy
WeRide’s Sensor Suite 5.6 boasts an aerodynamic design equipped with over 20 state-of-the-art sensors. These include cost-efficient high-performance LiDAR, high-resolution cameras, and an RTK-based inertial navigation system. Together, they offer 360-degree vision with no blind spots and a front detection range of up to 200 meters, allowing the GXR to operate safely and efficiently in diverse conditions.
Revolutionary Design: More Space, More Comfort
The GXR stands out in the market for its size and interior space. At 5,018mm in length with a cabin height of 1,340mm, it has a wheelbase of 3,100mm, offering unmatched legroom and headspace. By eliminating the traditional front passenger seat, WeRide has maximized interior space, giving the GXR the highest “space efficiency” among Robotaxis.
Unique Door System for Passenger Convenience
In addition to its spacious interior, the GXR introduces a revolutionary hidden B-pillar design, allowing both the front and side doors to open simultaneously. This creates a massive 1,831mm wide and 1,285mm tall entry point for passengers, simplifying boarding and luggage loading. A designated luggage area can comfortably fit a backpack and a 22-inch suitcase.
Prioritizing Passenger Safety
Safety is at the core of the GXR’s design. The cabin includes soft-edged surfaces to minimize injury in the event of an accident, and emergency exit signage is placed on all doors. Additionally, a stop button and safety hammer are located on the center console for use in case of an emergency.

Once the GXR is available to the public, passengers will be able to book rides using the WeRide Go App. The app allows users to choose their pickup point and destination with ease.
