Dakar Academy Central, a leading international school in Senegal, West Africa, today announced a new partnership with global edtech leader Discovery Education. The collaboration will give teachers at Dakar Academy access to award-winning digital products that prepare students for the future and nurture their inherent curiosity in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). The new partnership is Discovery Education’s first in Senegal, and builds upon the company’s extensive presence in schools across Africa and the EMEA region.
Dakar Academy is an international, college-preparatory school for grades Pre-K through 12, following a North American-based curriculum. Established in 1961 as the first international and Christian school in Dakar, the academy is situated on a large campus in Hann Maristes, and teaches 285 students from more than 50 different countries. The school’s vision is to produce well-rounded students who are ready for university-level studies. To prepare students for the world beyond the classroom, Dakar Academy’s team sought to enhance science instruction by implementing a comprehensive STEM curriculum, powered by engaging digital resources.
To accomplish this, Dakar Academy sought flexible, standards-aligned digital learning resources that were easy to integrate into instruction and had a proven record of quickly engaging students in science. Following a careful review of available resources, Dakar Academy selected Discovery Education’s Science Techbooks for use in the school’s Pre-K to 12 classrooms.
