Cybersecurity pioneer appoints first UK distributor

bluedog Security Monitoring – the cybersecurity vendor which aims to revolutionise the market with its innovative 24-hour monitoring service – has signed its first UK distributor.

Brigantia, an award-winning value added managed services distributor which specialises in cybersecurity and compliance, will supply bluedog’s service to its partners throughout the UK and Ireland.

bluedog, which has been launched by serial entrepreneur Paul Lomax and cybersecurity expert Tim Thurlings, has developed a new model that slashes the cost of managed detection and response (MDR) to make services accessible to businesses large and small for the first time.

The system uses artificial intelligence to spot unusual activity on a company’s network. It then alerts bluedog’s security operations centre, where a highly trained team analyses abnormal user behaviour and responds to incidents if required.

The service detects both external and internal threats which bypass traditional endpoint security and firewalls. It not only offers enhanced security and rapid response to incidents, but also helps companies comply with cybersecurity standards and keeps a full audit trail for reporting and assurance purposes.

Brigantia, which was originally established in 1996 and has offices in London and Yorkshire, is an independent value-added managed services distributor providing a comprehensive range of cybersecurity solutions alongside its own secure, enterprise-class data communications and cloud services.

Brigantia founder and commercial director Iain Shaw says:

“We are looking forward to working closely with the dynamic team at bluedog as we see this monitoring service as adding another important layer to our cybersecurity offering. Cybersecurity is all about layering and bluedog adds another very important layer into the mix.”

bluedog’s channel director Colin Darbyshire said research by Gartner suggests that the market for MDR services worldwide will reach £48bn by 2023. He added:

“We are very pleased with the strong interest we have received in bluedog’s service, and delighted to agree this partnership with Brigantia, which is an established specialist security distributor with a wealth of expertise.

“There is growing awareness that firewalls and endpoint protection which businesses have traditionally relied on are no longer adequate and they now need to take their cybersecurity to the next level. bluedog gives them 24/7 access to a team of cyber experts for less than the cost of a part-time staff member. Our innovative model combines machine learning and human expertise to offer peace of mind.”
