StorCentric’s Nexsan Launches Unity™ Third Generation 3300 and 7900

Nexsan, a StorCentric Company, and a global leader in unified storage solutions, announced the launch of its Unity™ Third Generation 3300 and 7900 enterprise class unified storage – the industry’s most powerful platform for mixed workloads. Offering a powerful new range of features, including Unbreakable Backup, which protects backups in the event of a ransomware attack, and the Data Migration and Cloud Connector Modules that enable enterprise users to move data as needed for tiered storage and optimized hybrid cloud infrastructures.

Unity is a high availability solution designed specifically for enterprises, with the 3300 and 7900 offering flexible hybrid and all-flash configurations for simplified expansion, delivering core enterprise features in a single platform. Unity meets the needs of critical business applications, with the new platform providing significant capacity increases in both HDD and SSD configurations and up to a 50% performance increase over the Second Generation Unity. Unity storage is deployed in the most demanding SAN and NAS enterprise environments from financial institutions, television and movie production companies, to hospitals and national research labs. Unity supports applications ranging from backup, virtualization and databases, to file sharing, video editing and more.

The advanced Unity architecture seamlessly operates with the Assureon® active data vault providing customers the peace of mind that their data is protected for regulatory compliance and from security breaches including ransomware. As malware is now also targeting backups, Unity with Assureon delivers an immutable Unbreakable Backup solution so organizations never have to worry about the ability to recover. Unity is certified as a Veeam Ready Repository v10 and has been used in countless other backup environments, including Commvault.

The Unity unified advanced storage platform with the Cloud Connector module now includes the ability to connect to 18 public clouds, including Amazon S3 and Google Cloud Storage, allowing organizations to move data as needed for tiering storage and optimizing hybrid cloud infrastructures. The Data Migration capability makes implementation even easier by replicating files from any legacy system. This allows for ingest into Unity with fine-grained filtering and continuous incremental updates available to ensure the new Unity is ready for use as quickly as possible.

“Today, perhaps more than ever, data management flexibility combined with safe and effective backup is among the most critical capabilities in an organization’s data management strategy. Certainly, this is important from an efficiency and cost perspective. However, in light of the sophistication of today’s ransomware—which now not only seeks to attack onsite production data, but every possible copy, wherever the copies reside—backup could be the difference between business continuity or business failure,” said Dennis Hahn, Principal Storage Analyst at Omdia. “Storage array data replication and recovery capabilities offer compelling new capabilities that can provide a strong potential solution for these modern data center challenges.”

“Offering customers a solution such as Unbreakable Backup provides security against the rising ransomware attacks businesses are facing today. Furthermore, the highly-efficient Data Migration and Cloud Connector modules in this third generation of Unity underscore our longstanding commitment to innovation,” commented Mihir Shah, StorCentric CEO. “As a result, we are not only delivering the industry’s most powerful solution for mixed workloads in this new third generation of Unity, but we are also enabling customers to meet the challenges presented by today’s ever-present data security and protection risks.”
