Female tech leaders join Reframe Women In Tech conference at Old Trafford

An inspiring selection of keynote speakers from across the tech world will address a 500-strong audience at the upcoming Reframe Women In Tech conference in Manchester.

Katy Leeson, managing director of Social Chain; Jennie Johnson MBE, Chief Executive Officer at My First Five Years; Katie White, agile business analyst at AO; and Sarah Ellis, co-founder of Amazing If will all take to the stage at what is believed to be the largest in person women in tech event in the North.

Aiming to change the narrative around women in technology through the sharing of positive journeys, the 2022 conference will work under the theme of ‘Believe You Can’, and will bring to a close a week-long recognition and celebration of International Women’s Day.

Keynote speaker, Katy Leeson says: “I’m a firm believer in you can’t be what you can’t see…and this event is an amazing opportunity to showcase the amazing work that women in technology are doing to change the face of the industry.

“I benefitted so much from seeing how other women moved through their careers, now I hope to share my own journey to do the same for other women.”

Delivered by Manchester-based Tech Returners and The Confidence Community, Reframe Women In Tech will take place on Friday, March 11th 2022 at The Point, Emirates Old Trafford, and will offer attendees free, on site childcare.

Reframe Women In Tech was established in 2019 by Beckie Taylor, chief executive and co-founder of Tech Returners. Having become tired of the astronomical price tags, London-centric locations and the same old speakers; Taylor made a commitment to make conferences for women in tech accessible and directly for the community.

Taylor says: “We are so excited to be bringing Reframe Women In Tech back to Manchester for a second time; our work with women in technology never stops and we are here to share the successes and journeys with our community.

“We know about the barriers faced by women in technology and that’s why we’re making this event as accessible as possible, keeping the ticket price low, sponsorship options flexible and offering free childcare at the event. This conference is by the community for the community and we want as many people involved as possible.”

Jennie Johnson MBE, CEO of My First Five Years and another conference keynote speaker, adds: “I’m delighted to be taking part in Reframe Women in Tech to share my journey of our Edtech startup My First Five Years. Having spent the last 12 months in the tech sector, it’s clear that more needs to be done to attract and retain women and that encouraging women to return to their tech career after a break is important. I’m looking forward to sharing my journey authentically including the up and downs and the current challenges.”

The first Reframe Women In Tech conference welcomed 220 people in October 2019 to share a day of learning and collaboration focused on positive action and positive change. This year, that number has more than doubled, illustrating the importance and demand for female-focused tech events.

In the spirit of support and accessibility, the ticket price will remain low at £39.00 per person for the full-day event.
