Innovation made easy: Civica opens Teal Door for fresh innovation partnerships

  • Welcoming ideas and tech partners for pilot schemes across data, automation and new technologies

Global public sector software leader Civica has launched its new Teal Door innovation programme, inviting companies to come forward and partner on exciting and disruptive tech ideas.

The Teal Door initiative will make it as simple as possible for start-ups and SMEs to work with Civica’s innovation team, product leads and customers to explore how data, automation and emerging tech can help deliver world class, citizen-focused public services.

In collaboration with NorthStar, interested companies can submit ideas for discussion and to scope out future opportunities. They will work in collaboration with Civica experts across major sectors including education, social housing, health and care, and local and central government – and receive valuable feedback and insight into potential product development.

Civica’s Head of Innovation Liz O’Driscoll explained: “We’ve listened to feedback from start-ups who say it can be hard to get in touch with big companies about innovation. Through our Teal Door programme, we’re open to exploring new ideas and collectively helping improve public services for everyone.”

Civica’s innovation lab, NorthStar, works with customers and partners around the world to accelerate new products and deliver the public services of tomorrow. The company has a strong network of innovation champions across a broad range of sectors who nurture ideas and accelerate the delivery of solutions to benefit everyone in our society.

Civica’s Experience Team has partnered with Hybrid-AI text analytics company Akumen, working with the NorthStar lab. Andy Crouch, Business Development Director at Akumen added: “Collaborating with Civica NorthStar continues to be an absolute game-changer for us. It’s enabled us to build effective relationships with highly motivated and supportive Civica delivery teams and subject matter experts, all with minimal red tape.

“This has led to accelerated and informed development of our next-gen capabilities that we can be confident will meet the emerging needs of Civica’s clients. As Akumen continues to scale-up, the NorthStar lab provides the vital balance of driving innovation while always considering how it will be successfully commercialised.”

Liz O’Driscoll continued: “These partnerships will help us jointly bring new and innovative products to our customers more quickly and help them to better respond to the emerging trends demanded by citizens. We can offer partners a great opportunity to build and scale concepts quickly, benefiting from our global tech and software experience and public sector expertise.”

Interested companies can get in touch with ideas by posting their ideas through Civica’s Teal Door.
