Which Devices and Models Are Compatible With eSIMs?

We’re all familiar with the trusty SIM card, which has been storing our data and handling our network connections for decades… but what about the eSIM? This inventive innovation is a fraction of the size of a traditional SIM, can carry multiple profiles simultaneously and is embedded into a range of phones, smartwatches and laptops as standard. 

These features make it great for travelling, for example, since the acquisition of a Europe eSIM card can unite your network connection across a number of different devices and throughout a variety of different countries. But which makes and models are currently compatible? Here’s a quick rundown of the major options available at the time of writing.

eSIM-compatible phones

The eSIM can act as a replacement or as a supplement to the traditional SIM card and has already been adopted by a variety of different mobile phone manufacturers. These include the following major brands:

Meanwhile, other big names such as Gemini, Honor, Motorola, Sharp, Sony and Xiaomi have all released some handsets with compatibility. It should be noted, however, that this compatibility may vary depending on the country of purchase and vendor.

eSIM-compatible smartwatches

Elsewhere, wearables such as smartwatches are becoming increasingly popular in the UK and abroad. A recent poll by YouGov found that almost one-third (29%) of the British population say they own and use a wearable on a daily basis. With that in mind, here are the smartwatches currently compatible with eSIM technology:

There are select offerings from a number of other manufacturers, as well, including Amazon, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi.

eSIM-compatible laptops

Finally, there are a range of laptops which have been quick to incorporate eSIM technology into their makeup. This is especially useful for digital nomads or businesspeople who spend a lot of time in different countries, since the multi-profile functionality of eSIMs allows them to switch seamlessly between various networks. The current list includes:

The above lists are correct at the time of writing – but the constantly evolving nature of the technology means that new makes and models are likely to become compatible with eSIM soon. What’s more, it’s not limited to just phones, smartwatches and laptops either. Headphones, glasses and other wearables are all likely to emerge equipped with eSIMs in the near future.
