Workforce management app Deputy grows EMEA team

Workforce management software solution, Deputy, has announced the appointment of Austin Armstrong as VP, Enterprise Sales for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

The appointment is the latest senior hire for the company in the region. Since opening its London office and regional headquarters in 2018, Deputy has continued its rapid growth, supporting SMEs and large enterprise employers with their workforce management and shift scheduling. In the past 12 months, adoption of the software and app by businesses in EMEA has increased by more than 100%. In that time, more than 5 million shifts were scheduled through Deputy in the UK alone, representing over 36 million hours worked by British employees.

In a newly created role, Armstrong will head Deputy’s Mid-market and Enterprise Sales team, based in London. He joins from retail software firm StoreForce where most recently he held the positions of Head of Global Marketing and Director of Sales and Business Development.

Last year Deputy announced its expansion with the appointment of David Kelly, EMEA General Manager, and Heidi Birkin, EMEA Head of Marketing. In February, the company was included in The New York Times’ analysis of the next wave of ‘unicorn’ start-ups: 50 fast-growth companies that may be on a path to achieving a $1 billion valuation.

Commenting on his appointment, Armstrong said:

“I’m thrilled to join Deputy on its mission to help businesses love what they do day in and day out. We have an amazing team here, devoted to this mission and living it every day. That’s why I joined. I’m excited to be part of this and look forward to helping great businesses and their people to be even more successful.”

David Kelly, General Manager for EMEA added:

“With our innovative technology Deputy is perfectly positioned to connect businesses and employees in sectors vital to the British economy, such as retail, hospitality and healthcare.

I’m proud of the team we’ve grown this year and very excited about our potential. We’re helping increasing numbers of British and European businesses to simplify scheduling, timesheets, tasks and workplace communication. Austin’s expertise will continue to ensure we put the needs of employers and workers at the forefront of the development of our platform in this part of the world.”
