Eco-Friendly Choices: Exploring the Best Used Hybrid and Electric Cars

Anyone looking to buy a car will know just how popular electric cars are becoming. Indeed, the industry is booming and is set for another record-breaking year in 2023 with sales expected to increase an eyewatering 35%. And now, since electric and hybrid models have been in the market for a while, you can also get your hands on great used cars at a fraction of the price.

Of course, it’s not hard to see why they’re growing in popularity. With environmental responsibility on everyone’s minds, electric cars are set to decrease our need for oil by 5 million barrels a day by 2030. So, if you’re thinking of purchasing a hybrid or electric car, here are all the models to look out for this year.

Toyota Yaris

Quick, nimble and coming in at a very nifty size for small parking spaces, the new Toyota Yaris is a supermini that is definitely worthy of that title. With a 114bhp 1.5-litre petrol engine alongside self-charging technology, this is a hybrid model that is hard to beat.

It’s also a treat on the eyes. The base model includes 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights and wipers, air conditioning, a reversing camera and a multi-functional steering wheel complete with a classy leather cover.

Honda Civic

Not ones to play by the rules, Honda Civic’s new model boasts a single engine 2.0-litre four-cylinder hybrid setup which is different but really effective. It might not be the flashiest car on first appearances, but the Honda Civic 11th generation hides a great deal of world-class engineering.

This is how it works: the petrol engine acts as a generator to power the battery. This then mobilises the electric motor whilst also powering the wheels in isolation to spin at higher speeds. It’s an innovative model that spreads the word distribution evenly so as not to put the combustion engine under too much stress.

Kia Sportage

The Kia Sportage is another model that plays by its own rules. Featuring an impressive hybrid system, the Kia Sportage puts most of its attention on the driving experience – and not just for the driver!

Boasting a sizeable cabin, as well as built-in sat-nav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, it’s customised to accommodate household technologies for a seamless and pleasant journey.

Toyota RAV4

The Toyota RAV4 might previously have been a bulky presence on the road, but now it’s been updated for added dexterity and nimbleness. These days, it’s a stoic SUV – a welcome advancement for SUV lovers everywhere – and is available in hybrid or fully electric form.

For a tall, wide vehicle, the Toyota RAV4 is unusually smooth and can turn around tight corners with relative ease. Just don’t buy this model for the add-ons or infotainment system; this aspect, unfortunately, lets the model down slightly.
